Maxon releases Redshift 2026.9

Maxon has released Redshift 2026.9, the latest version of the GPU-accelerated renderer for VFX, motion graphics and visualization work.

The update adds anisotropy and HDR compression in new real-time renderer Redshift Live, OCIO 2.5 support, and support for instancing of USD and Alembic particles in Maya.

Redshift 2026.9 updates Redshift Live, the new real-time renderer introduced as a replacement for the previous Redshift RT engine in Redshift 2026.4.

Key changes include support for HDR compression, and for anisotropy, making it possible to properly preview materials like brushed metal.

The release also updated Redshift itself to support OCIO 2.5 (OpenColorIO 2.5), the latest version of the color-management standard, specified in the current VFX Reference Platform spec.

Plugins: support for instanced USD and Alembic proxies in Maya
Maya users also get support for instances of USD and Alembic proxies, plus support for USD proxies in Maya’s nParticles system.

The Houdini integration has been updated to support Houdini 22.

Price and system requirements
Redshift 2026.9 is compatible with Windows 10+, glibc 2.28+ Linux and macOS 14.0+.

The plugins are compatible with 3ds Max 2018+, Cinema 4D 2023+, Houdini 19.0+, Katana 5.0+, Maya 2018+ (Maya 2022+ on Linux), Revit 2024+, Vectorworks 2026.4+ and ZBrush 2023+.

The software is rental-only. Subscriptions cost $49/month or $289/year.
