World Creator 2026.4 is out with a new free Community Edition

BiteTheBytes has released World Creator 2026.4, the latest version of its GPU-based terrain-generation software for game development, motion graphics and VFX work.

The update adds support for mathematical expressions in numerical fields, making it possible to create more complex environments, plus terrain normal blending and full support for decals.

BiteTheBytes has also released a new free Community Edition of the software.

A procedural GPU-based terrain generator used by leading games and VFX studios
World Creator enables artists to create terrain through a combination of procedural and manual workflows.

Artists can create terrain using a layer-based workflow, sculpting the basic 3D forms, and generating linear land forms like mountain ranges, rivers and roads along vector paths.

The terrain can be modified using filters, including those mimicking the effects of erosion and sediment deposition, previewing the results using World Creator’s built-in ray tracing renderer.

Users can export terrain to DCC applications and game engines in 3D formats like OBJ, FBX and glTF, or as 2D texture maps, including height maps and flow maps, with support for 32-bit EXRs.

The software has been used by artists at games and VFX studios including Blizzard Entertainment, Crytek, Blur Studio and Cinesite.

World Creator 2026.4: support for mathematical expressions
Changes in World Creator 2026.4 include the option to use mathematical expressions in numerical fields, for more advanced control of terrain.

The software also now has “full support” for decals

And building on the changes in World Creator 2026.3, the software now supports terrain normal blending to help integrate hero objects into terrain.

Performance improvements include VRAM scaling, which adjusts the maximum object count for a scene to the amount of GPU memory available.

New free export-disabled Community Edition
BiteTheBytes has also introduced a new free Community Edition of the software.

It’s feature-complete, but export-disabled, so it’s essentially an unlimited trial edition, making it possible for new users to test out the software before buying.
