Chaos releases Vantage 2.4

Chaos has updated Vantage, its real-time ray tracing renderer, intended for exploring large V-Ray scenes in architectural visualization and visual effects projects.

Vantage 2.4 adds support for UDIM textures and the V-Ray Decal system, and improves color correction workflow.

A GPU-accelerated ray tracer for exploring large production scenes in real time
First released in 2020, Vantage is a hardware-accelerated ray tracing renderer intended for exploring large V-Ray production scenes in near-real time.

The initial release was targeted at visualization, but in 2023 Chaos added support for rendering deforming meshes, like animated characters, and began pitching Vantage at VFX work.

Vantage 2.4: support for UDIM textures and V-Ray Decal
Key changes in Vantage 2.4 include support for UDIM textures, the tiled texture layout format supported in most modern DCC apps, including 3ds Max, Houdini and Maya.

The update also introduces support for the V-Ray Decal system, making it possible to import decal materials in V-Ray scenes, or to create them directly in Vantage.

Updates to color correction workflow include support for “most” VFB color correction settings in imported V-Ray scene files, and new white balance controls in Vantage itself.

Other changes include support for nested V-Ray scenes, the Thin-walled option in VRayMtl, and in/out ranges in imported V-Ray animated cameras.

Price and system requirements
Chaos Vantage is compatible with Windows 10+ and DXR-compatible AMD, Intel or Nvidia GPUs.

The software is rental-only, with subscriptions costing $108.90/month or $658.80/year.
