Download over 1,300 free PBR texture sets with LotPixel Hub

Online asset library LotPixel has launched LotPixel Hub, a new desktop app for downloading and importing its assets into Blender.

With the app, which is currently free in beta, Blender users can download over 1,300 sets of free scan-based PBR texture maps, at up to 8,192 x 8,192px resolution.

LotPixel provides a range of stock assets for architectural visualization, VFX and games.

At the time of writing, the library contains over 6,000 assets, including sets of scan-based PBR textures, decal textures, and 3D models.

Over 1,300 are free, all of them PBR texture sets.

They include diffuse/albedo, metallic, roughness, specular, glossiness, ambient occlusion and normal maps, in JPEG format, with displacement maps in EXR format, at resolutions up to 8K.

The free assets cover building materials like asphalt, brick, concrete, metal, plaster, stone and wood; interior and exterior flooring and wall materials; plus plastic and fabrics.

New desktop app LotPixel Hub streamlines the process of downloading assets
We’ve covered LotPixel’s free assets before on CG Channel, but at the time, it was only possible to download them individually from the website.

LotPixel has now released a new download manager, LotPixel Hub, to streamline the process.

The desktop app makes it possible to create default settings – texture resolutions and file formats – for downloads, then download multiple assets simultaneously.

Integrates directly into Blender, with other DCC apps to come
LotPixel Hub also integrates with Blender, making it possible to import the assets directly into the open-source 3D software.

For textures and decals, the integration script automatically creates a shading network, converting normal maps from LotPixel’s DirectX format to the OpenGL format Blender expects.

A LotPixel panel in the sidebar makes it possible to adjust material properties like color balance and displacement strength using simple slider controls, without editing the nodes manually.

LotPixel plans to release integrations for 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Maya, SketchUp, Unity and Unreal Engine in future.

Paid subscriptions provide access to higher-resolution textures and 3D models
The free assets represent around a quarter of the textures in LotPixel’s commercial library, which also includes decals and 3D scans, including rocks and small household objects.

The assets are priced on a credit basis: most assets consume three credits when downloaded.

For artists with revenue under $150,000/year, paid subscriptions start at $14/month, for 45 credits per month, or $120/year, for 540 credits per year.

It is also possible to buy additional credits, starting at $22 for 45 credits.

Price and system requirements
LotPixel’s free texture sets are provided as JPEG and EXR files, at resolutions up to 8,192 x 8,192px. The files are licensed for use in commercial projects.

LotPixel Hub is available for Windows 10+ only, and integrates with Blender 4.2+.

The app is currently free in beta. We’ve contacted LotPixel to ask how it will be priced once it leaves beta, and will update if we hear back.
