Pilgway releases 3DCoat 2026 and 3DCoatTextura 2026

Pilgway has released 3DCoat 2026, the latest major version of its sculpting, retopology and 3D painting software and 3DCoatTextura 2026, the cut-down edition for texturing work.
The major change in both editions is a new GPU-accelerated node-based texturing system, and a new generation of smart materials, masks, modifiers and volumetric textures based on it.
3DCoat 2026 also introduces a new Splitter tool for dividing models into parts, and updates a range of existing modeling tools and parametric modeling workflows.
Now officially available for production after a series of early access builds
Pilgway releases new development builds of 3DCoat throughout the year, so the first 2026 release, 3DCoat 2026.1, actually came out in February.
However, 3DCoat 2026.11, the latest build, is the first to be declared production-ready, so that’s the one you see listed in the release notes.

New node-based texturing system authors materials non-destructively
The major new feature in 3DCoat 2026 is the Node System: a new node-based texturing system.
It enables users to create materials, masks and effects non-destructively, by wiring together nodes in a new visual editor, as in software like Substance 3D Designer and Mari.
The Node System is tightly integrated with the sculpting toolset, making it possible to continue to sculpt a model while previewing a material on it, as you can see in this video.
It also underpins a new generation of procedural Smart Materials, masks, deformers, post-processing filters, and volumetric textures.
The latter can even be used to be used to create voxel lattices within a 3D model, which Pilgway pitches as a way to create internal supports for 3D printing.
Available in a separate GPU-accelerated executable
The toolset is GPU-accelerated, with procedural effects and general mathematical operations calculated directly on the GPU, and node graphs compiled into shaders on the GPU.
GPU nodes are written in NGL (NodeGraph Language), Pilgway’s own GLSL-based language.
The software is now available as two separate executables: a new GPU version that includes the Node System, and a legacy CPU version.
Updates to the PBR material system and materials library
3DCoat’s PBR material system has been updated, extending it to 30 material channels.
The release notes don’t say which are new in the update, but describes them as creating “advanced light interaction and refraction effects”.
The accompanying material library has been updated to make the Smart Materials compatible with the Node System, and there are new 3D scanned fabric materials, created by Scanimat.
New modeling features, workflow improvements and changes to file import and export
New modeling features include the Splitter tool (shown above), which can be used to divide a model into parts on separate layers, to make complex models easier to organize.
Parametric hybrid modeling workflows have been reworked, and there are four new Smart Hybrid primitives, representing common parametric model base forms.
There are also updates to a number of individual tools, including the On-Plane Tool, Curve Tool, Bevel Tool, and Pose Tool.
Workflow improvements include the option to organize assets into trees in 3DCoat’s Retopology and Modeling rooms, as you already could in the Sculpt room.
In addition, 3DCoat can now import LightWave LWO3 files, and GLB export has been improved.
3DCoatTextura 2026: same new texturing features, but a small price rise
3DCoatTextura 2026 has same new texturing features as 3DCoat 2026 itself, including the Node System and new PBR material channels, plus the changes to file import and export.
For individual users, the standard price of a perpetual license has risen from €119 to €159, but the cost of subscriptions and studio licenses remain unchanged.

For individuals, perpetual node-locked licenses cost €379. Subscriptions cost €20.80/month or €169.85/year. Rent to own plans require 11 continuous monthly payments of €41.60.
For studios, perpetual node-locked licenses cost €539; floating licences cost €579. Subscriptions cost €29.85/month or €299/year for node-locked licenses; €34.85/month or €319.85/year for floating licenses.

3DCoatTextura 2026 is available for Windows 7+, Ubuntu 20.04+ and macOS 10.13+.
For individuals, perpetual node-locked licenses cost €159. Subscriptions cost €10.80/month. Rent to own plans require seven continuous monthly payments of €21.60.
For studios, perpetual node-locked licenses cost €379; floating licenses cost €419. Subscriptions cost €20.85/month or €199/year for node-locked licenses; €24.85/month or €229/year for floating licenses.
