Otoy has updated OctaneRender 2025, the current stable version of the GPU renderer.
OctaneRender 2025.2 improves support for OpenColorIO, and adds support for render denoising via OIDN on NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and Apple Silicon processors.
OctaneRender 2025.3 and OctaneRender 2025.4 are primarily bugfix updates.
Better support for OCIO
OctaneRender 2025.2 is the second production release of the renderer this year, following a more major feature release, OctaneRender 2025.1, in March.
The update improves support for OpenColorIO within the renderer.
The open color management standard is widely used in visual effects production pipelines, and included in the VFX Reference Platform specification.
OctaneRender now supports OCIO configs up to version 2.4, used in the current CY2025 spec, and adds support for archived OCIO configs in .ocioz format.
Support for OIDN render denoising on NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and Apple Silicon processors
In addition, the integrated version of Open Image Denoise, Intel’s CPU – and now GPU – render denoising system, has been updated to version 2.3.3, the most recent version.
The update means that OctaneRender now supports OIDN denoising on NVIDIA’s current-gen Blackwell GPUs, including its GeForce RTX 50 Series and RTX PRO Blackwell Series cards.
Octane X, the macOS edition of the software, supports OIDN on Metal devices: in this context, the Apple Silicon processors in current Macs.

Released 19 August 2025: Otoy has released OctaneRender 2025.3.
It’s mainly a bugfix update, but it includes a small update to OSL shading.

Updated 25 October 2025: Otoy has released OctaneRender 2025.4.
Again, it’s mainly a bugfix update, but also adds support for macOS Tahoe (macOS 26.0) in Octane X.
Price and system requirements
OctaneRender is compatible with Windows 10+ and Linux, and requires a CUDA 10-capable NVIDIA GPU.
Octane X is compatible with macOS 14.5+ on Macs with Apple M1 and later processors, and with iPadOS 17.0+ on devices with A12 Bionic and later chips.
The software is rental-only, via Otoy’s Studio+ subscriptions, which cost €23.95/month or €239.88/year, and which include integration plugins for 21 DCC applications, plus a range of third-party software.
Otoy also provides free ‘Prime’ editions of both OctaneRender and Octane X, which are limited to rendering on a single GPU, and which come with a smaller set of DCC integration plugins.
