Download all of Graswald’s 3D plants for free
Graswald has made all of the 3D plants in its online store available to download for free.
Visitors can now download 145 plant species in FBX or Alembic format, for use in DCC apps and game engines, or for use with Gscatter, Graswald’s Blender object scattering plugin.
Graswald will now focus on the development of graswald.ai, its product visualization solution.
Over 145 species of ground-cover plants, with LODs and PBR textures
The move makes Graswald’s previously subscription-only library of 3D plants available free.
It’s relatively unusual among 3D plant collections in that it consists mainly of smaller plants rather than trees, including grasses, garden and wild flowers, mosses and ferns.
In total, there are 145 plant species, typical of temperate European grasslands, forest floors and urban environments, with variant 3D models within a species.
The assets are provided in FBX and Alembic (.abc) formats, for use in most DCC apps and game engines, or in the proprietary format for Gscatter, Graswald’s free Blender scattering plugin.
The models are provided as multiple LODs, with PBR texture maps inlucidng albedo, AO, height, normal, opacity, roughness and translucency, at resolutions up to 8,192px.
Now available for free so that Graswald can focus on graswald.ai
Graswald itself now plans to focus on graswald.ai, a new product visualization solution, for which it has just secured $3.3 million in seed funding.
According to the firm’s blog post, “With the focus on graswald.ai, we can’t maintain the high standards we’ve set for the library’s updates.
“Because of this, we have decided to instead make … the library freely available for anyone.”
System requirements and license conditions
Graswald’s 3D plant models are compatible with any DCC application or game engine capable of importing FBX or Alembic files. The assets are licensed for commercial use.
The current version of Gscatter, GScatter 0.11.7, is compatible with Blender 3.5+, but previous versions, still available on the Graswald website, are compatible with Blender 2.93+.
