Check out DNEG’s gritty VFX breakdown for Motor City

DNEG has posted its VFX breakdown for Motor City, the 1970s-set action thriller, for which it was sole visual effects vendor.

Like the movie itself, it’s pretty gritty: one of the main creative challenges the studio cites is the creation of a CG severed leg and blood spray for a claustrophobic elevator fight scene.

Other key work included digital environments for the city of Detroit itself, plus thermite blasts and smoke simulations for other action sequences.
