Adobe releases Photoshop 27.9.1
Adobe has released Photoshop 27.9.1, the latest version of the image-editing software, used in the entertainment industry for concept art, texture editing, and retouching renders.
It’s a workflow update, making quality-of-life changes to the AI-powered Generate Image and Remove tools, and adding the option to save lists of favorite fonts.
The 27.9.1 release also fixes a critical bug with Photoshop 27.9 itself.

First up, if you’re wondering why Adobe has seemingly moved from Photoshop 27.8 straight to Photoshop 27.9.1, we wondered that too.
According to users on the Photoshop subreddit, Photoshop 27.9 was released at the end of July, but was taken down again quickly due to a bug causing images to appear washed-out.
Photoshop Product Manager Cory Shubert has posted on the bug report forum that 27.9.1 fixes the issue, which is presumably why it is now the version that appears in the release notes.
Workflow updates, particularly to the AI-based tools
Outside of bugfixes, the update is largely a set of workflow improvements.
The AI-powered Remove tool, for automatically removing unwanted objects from images, is now available from the contextual task bar.
Another AI feature, Generate Image, now displays contextual tips in the prompt bar to help users write more effective prompts.
It is also now possible to send multiple layers from a local Photoshop document to Firefly Boards, Adobe’s AI-powered online mood boarding tool.
Save and restore lists of favorite fonts
Outside the AI tools, it is now possible to export lists of favorite fonts so that you can restore them if you clear or reset your application Preferences.
It is also now possible to search cloud assets using keywords, rather than having to browse them manually.
Price and system requirements
Photoshop 27.9.1 is compatible with Windows 10+ and macOS 14.0+. In the online documentation, it is also referred to as the July 2026 release.
The software is rental-only, with Photography subscription plans that include access to Photoshop costing $29.99/month or $239.88/year.
Single-app Photoshop subscriptions cost $34.49/month or $263.88/year.
