Download four new free Renderpeople 3D characters

Online asset store Renderpeople has released four new free 3D characters for use in visualisation work.

The new characters span the range of Renderpeople’s stock content, comprising one animated male character, two rigged female characters, and a static model of a woman holding a child.

High-quality free 3D characters in 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Maya and FBX format
As with Renderpeople’s other stock characters, the new figures are based on 3D scan and motion-capture data, retopologised and cleaned up manually.

The assets come with 8K texture maps, plus readymade materials for a range of common renderers, including Corona Renderer, OctaneRender and V-Ray. All are licensed for use in commercial projects.

The animated male figure is recorded in a standard walk cycle, and is available as a 3ds Max, Cinema 4D or Maya scene, or as an FBX file.

The rigged female figures are available in the same formats, or for the Unity and Unreal Engine game engines. Both come with a readymade control rig as well as a skinned skeleton.

Finally, the posed model of the woman and child comes in the widest range of formats: 3ds Max, Blender 2.79, Cinema 4D, Maya, Rhino, SketchUp and Photoshop, plus OBJ and FBX.

The asset also comes in two different LODs, with 30,000 and 100,000 polygons.

More commercial figures in Renderpeople’s library
Renderpeople also has more than 3,000 commercial stock characters, priced at £39-119 (around $50-150) each. The models can be browsed by age, gender, ethnicity, clothing style, and by pose.

Intended primarily as an alternative to Photoshop cut-outs for visualisation work, the figures include both unrigged, ready-posed models, plus newer rigged and animated characters.
