Reallusion releases Character Creator 4.54 and iClone 8.54
Reallusion has released Character Creator 4.54 and iClone 8.54, the latest versions of the 3D character creation tool and the real-time character animation software.
Both releases update the software’s AI Smart Search system for online stock assets, making it possible to try content before buying it, and to use Reallusion’s DA Points for in-app purchases.
Reallusion has also introduced a new lower-cost iContent license for stock assets, which lets artists use them in native renders, but not for games, 3D printing, or export to other software.
AI Smart Search now supports try-before-you-buy and purchases with DA Points
Reallusion originally rolled out AI Smart Search late last year.
It makes it possible to search for stock assets on Reallusion’s online marketplaces – the official Content Store, user Marketplace and the ActorCore mocap library – directly inside its software, using plain-text queries or reference images.
To that, the latest update makes it possible to test assets inside the software before buying them, with a watermark appearing in the viewport while assets are being used in trial mode.
It is also now possible to use DA Points – the digital currency used on Reallusion stores – for in-app purchases.
New iContent license for assets used in offline animation and VFX
In related news, Reallusion has introduced a new iContent license for assets.
iContent licenses are 30% of the price of Standard licenses, but only permit assets to be used for rendering still images or videos – that is, for offline animation, motion graphics or VFX.
However, assets bought under iContent licenses cannot be exported, so they can only be used for rendering inside Character Creator or iClone: not in third-party software like Unreal Engine.
In addition, assets with iContent licenses cannot be included in games or real-time content, or used for 3D printing.
Price and system requirements
Character Creator 4.54 and iClone 8.54 are compatible with Windows 7+. New perpetual licences have standard prices of $299 for Character Creator, and $599 for iClone.
