BiteTheBytes releases World Creator 2026.2

BiteTheBytes has released World Creator 2026.2, the latest version of its GPU-based terrain-generation software for game development, motion graphics and VFX work.

The update increases the detail that can be displayed in the viewport by up to 4x, adds support for AgX tonemapping, and a new set of Pattern distributions for generating terrain masks.

A procedural GPU-based terrain generator used by leading games and VFX studios
World Creator enables artists to create terrain through a combination of procedural and manual workflows.

Artists can create terrain using a layer-based workflow, sculpting the basic 3D forms, and generating linear land forms like mountain ranges, rivers and roads along vector paths.

The terrain can be modified using filters, including those mimicking the effects of erosion and sediment deposition, previewing the results using World Creator’s built-in ray tracing renderer.

Users can export terrain to DCC applications and game engines in 3D formats like OBJ, FBX and glTF, or as 2D texture maps, including height maps and flow maps, with support for 32-bit EXRs.

The software has been used by artists at games and VFX studios including Blizzard Entertainment, Crytek, Blur Studio and Cinesite.

World Creator 2026.2: better viewport previews of terrain
New features in World Creator 2026.2 include support for AgX tonemapping, providing more filmic looks in the viewport. The technique is used in a number of other visualization apps.

The viewport renderer can also now display up to 4x more detail in terrain.

New Patterns distributions
The update also introduces a new Pattern category to Distributions, World Creator’s set of procedural systems for generating masks for terrain.

They generate more abstract patterns: initial options include Dots, Grid, Maze, Spiral, and Splatter.

Performance improvements
In addition, sand simulation is now “up to 250% faster”, and UI rendering performance has been “noticeably” improved, particularly on low-end or older GPUs.

The software also now uses automatic crash reporting.

Availability and system requirements
World Creator 2026.2 is available for Windows 10+. Integration plugins are available for Blender, Cinema 4D, Godot, Houdini, Unity and Unreal Engine.

Perpetual licenses cost between $149 and $1,699. Rental costs between $99/year and $1,289.88/year. You can find details of current pricing in our story on World Creator 2025.1.
