Maxon releases Cinema 4D 2024.5
Cinema 4D 2024.5 makes it possible to use the Basic particle emitter with Cloners and Arrays, opening up new workflows for motion graphics.
Maxon has released Cinema 4D 2024.5, the new version of its 3D software for motion graphics, VFX and visualization work.
The update improves workflow in Cinema 4D’s new particle system and Unified Simulation System, adds new Scene Nodes, and a new Undo History.
It is part of Maxon’s July 2024 releases, with Redshift 3.6.04 and Maxon Studio 2024.1.
Workflow improvements to the new particle system
Cinema 4D 2024.5 isn’t a huge update – as far as we can see, Maxon hasn’t promoted it on social media – but it does feature workflow improvements to several toolsets.
The new particle system introduced in Cinema 4D 2024.4 gets better integration with MoGraph, with Cloners and Arrays now supporting the Basic particle emitter and forces.
There are also updates to the Surface Attractor and the Collide, Flock and Predator-Prey Modifiers.
For pipeline integration, particle data imported from other DCC apps as Alembic points can now be imported as a Particle Group as well as particle geometry.
Updates to the Unified Simulation System
Cinema 4D’s Unified Simulation System also gets an update, with the new rigid bodies toolset now supporting Connectors on Motor and Spring objects.
Automatic generation of Connectors has been improved.
Other changes: Scene Nodes, Redshift cameras and Undo History
In addition, the Scene Nodes system gets new Split and Disconnect nodes for detaching selected polygons from a mesh.
There is also a new Outline Spline node (shown above), for creating procedural spline outlines, and a Points Modifier node for manipulating point data.
When using Maxon’s Redshift renderer, a Redshift camera is automatically created when using motion tracking, camera calibration or related tools.
The update also adds a new Undo History in the Edit menu, making it possible to undo more than one change to a scene at a time.
Price and system requirements
Cinema 4D 2024.5 is compatible with Windows 10+ and macOS 11.7.7+. The update is available rental-only, with Cinema 4D subscriptions costing $94/month or $719/year.
