Get 60,000+ free 3D assets for Maya, Godot and Rhino

Formerly Blender-only asset library Blendkit has just opened up its content to users of other software: DCC application Maya, CAD tool Rhino, and the Godot game engine.

The firm’s experimental new add-ons make it possible to browse and download assets directly inside each host app.

At the time of writing, the library contains over 22,000 free 3D models, 36,000 free materials, 4,000 free HDRIs, and 1,000 free brushes, for use in commercial projects.

A large library of stock assets for CG artists of all types
We’ve written about Blendkit a couple of times in the past, under its original name of BlenderKit.

It provides a large library of assets for use in visualization, animation, games and VFX projects: mainly 3D models and materials, but also a range of other content.

Unlike most online libraries, you can’t download assets directly from the Blendkit website: you need to install the Blendkit add-on.

It adds a menu bar inside your host software from which you can search content on the site, inspect details of individual assets, then drag and drop them directly into a scene.

You can also browse the library online, and click on the ‘Get this’ button for individual assets, which shows a download code that you can then paste into the Blender add-on.

Now available for Maya, Rhino and Godot as well as Blender
Previously, the integration plugin – and therefore the assets – were only available for Blender, but Blendkit has now released new plugins for Maya, Rhino and Godot.

If you use the Maya or Rhino add-on, you also need Blender installed on the same machine, as the plugins use it to convert the original .blend files to a format the host app can use.

The Godot add-on should work out of the box.

All three plugins are free and open-source, but are still experimental, so they “may not run as smoothly” as the original Blender add-on.

Free 3D models, materials, HDRIs, brushes, and even complete 3D scenes
At the time of writing, over 67,000 of the assets on BlenderKit are available free.

Free materials include a range of common asset types for visualization projects, including rock, wood, metal, plastics, glass, bricks, ground, organic materials, plus a range of fabrics.

Free models include architectural assets, 3D plants, props, vehicles and weapons.

In addition, the library includes a large set of free HDRIs – interior and exterior environments, and manually created studio lighting setups – and sculpting brushes.

Formats and resolutions vary from asset to asset, but materials usually have textures at least 2,096 x 2,096px in resolution, and HDRIs are usually up to at least 8,192px in width.

Paid subscriptions provide access to even more assets, online storage and add-ons
Paid subscriptions on BlenderKit provide access the full library – currently over 140,000 assets – plus 2GB of online storage, extra add-ons and extended customer support.

For artists and studios with under $100,000/year in revenue, subscriptions now cost $17.90/month or $118.80/year. Business subscriptions now cost $48/month or $576/year.

License and system requirements
The Blendkit plugins are compatible with Blender 3.0+, Godot 4.0+ (officially on Windows and Linux only: the macOS version is untested), Maya and Rhino 8+.

The assets in the library are available under RF (Royalty-Free) and CC0 licenses, and can be used in commercial projects.
