Download four free VDB clouds from VFX Assets
Stock asset provider VFX Assets has released a set of four free VDB clouds.
The high-altitude clouds are available in three resolutions, suitable for previs, motion graphics and VFX work in any DCC application or game engine that can import VDB files.
Four free high-altitude volumetric 3D clouds for use in CG environments
The pack consists of a set of four volumetric 3D clouds of the type seen at high altitudes: one cirrus, one cirrostratus and two cirrocumulus clouds.
All can be used as a more customisable alternative to 2D cloud textures in CG environments, or for aerial shots close to the cloud layer.
The clouds are provided as VDB files, and can be imported into any application that supports the format, including 3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, Houdini, Maya, and now Unreal Engine.
Each is provided at three resolutions, with low-res versions for previs and quick iteration, and high-res versions for close-ups.
A free sample from a commercial pack of 50 clouds
The free assets are a sample from VFX Assets’ commercial pack of 50 High Altitude Clouds.
The pack, which costs CAD$25, consists of 20 cirrocumulus, 20 cirrus, and 10 cirrostratus clouds, and is licensed for commercial use.
Licence conditions and system requirements
The High Altitude Clouds sample pack is available free from VFX Assets’ Gumroad store. It is licensed for use in personal projects and showreel work. The files are provided in VDB format.
