Download 120+ free 3D scans of temples for use in Unreal Engine

Epic Games has made 3D scanning specialist Scans Factory‘s set of photogrammetry-based scans of Cambodian temples available to download for free.

The [VP] Temples of Cambodia – Ruins exterior and interior asset pack comprises 120 individual meshes intended for virtual production and VFX work.

The pack forms part of Epic’s free Unreal Engine Marketplace content for October 2024, and will be free until the end of the month.

Over 100 detailed 3D scans of ruined temples, with 4K textures
The Temples of Cambodia asset pack features detailed 3D scans of ruined temples, both exterior and interior environments, comprising around 120 individual meshes and 60 variations.

The models come with textures at resolutions up to 4,096 x 4,096px.

The assets are assembled into three Unreal Engine scenes, making use of UE5’s Nanite and Lumen toolsets, created by Respawn Entertainment Senior Lighting Artist Tom Bentkowski.

According to Scans Factory, the assets are primarily intended for virtual production work rather than use in-game: you can find details of estimated performance in the online documentation.

System requirements and availability
The [VP] Temples of Cambodia – Ruins exterior and interior asset pack is available free via the Unreal Engine Marketplace during October 2024. It is compatible with Unreal Engine 5.0+.

The marketplace usage rights permit assets not created by Epic Games to be exported to other game engines and DCC apps, although obviously, some features require Unreal Engine.

(Editor’s note: Epic Games will be launching its new online marketplace, Fab, in mid-October 2024, so the download link may change during the switchover.)
