Master Architectural Design for Games using Blender & UE5

The Gnomon Workshop has released Architectural Design for Games using Blender & UE5, a guide to architectural principles in game art, recorded by environment artist Joshua Haun.

The workshop provides over six hours of video training in Blender and Unreal Engine 5, plus CAD software Rhino, Affinity Photo, Substance 3D Painter and DaVinci Resolve.

It is geared toward intermediate-level artists seeking to create environments with deeper levels of architectural meaning, but is also suitable for beginners with foundational knowledge of modeling and UV-in in Blender, and basic knowledge of the Unreal Engine 5 interface.

Create professional games environments grounded in real-world architectural principles
In the workshop, Haun explores how to create a Victorian-style architectural game environment, taking design elements from history and bringing them into the digital world.

The tutorial sets out the fundamentals of architectural theory, implementing key techniques used in architectural design inside workflows suitable for real-world games production.

Haun begins by discussing how to model architecture in Blender, prepare the UVs of the models, and texture them using trim sheets.

Shader creation, garden design using foliage, lighting and camera work are all covered in UE5.

The final environment is designed to be used inside Unreal Engine, so the materials created in the workshop are geared towards real-time rendering.

About the artist
Joshua Haun is an Expert Environment Artist at Elsewhere Entertainment. He previously shipped multiple Call of Duty titles with Infinity Ward and several Valorant maps with Riot Games.

Outside of entertainment work, Joshua has completed a degree in architecture, earning an ICAA (Institute of Classical Art and Architecture) certification, and undertakes personal design projects.

Pricing and availability
Architectural Design for Games using Blender & UE5 is available via a subscription to The Gnomon Workshop, which provides access to over 300 tutorials.

Subscriptions cost $57/month or $519/year. Free trials are available.
