Maxon releases Red Giant 2024.4 and Universe 2025.3

Maxon has released Red Giant 2025.4 and Universe 2025.3, the latest updates to its suite of effects plugins for compositing and editing apps and its online library of effects and transitions.
The updates extend support for DaVinci Resolve inside both sets of plugins, making two new Red Giant tools available within the software and streamlining loading of Universe plugins.
In related news, Maxon has now discontinued support for Vegas Pro in the Red Giant tools, with the previous release being the last one to include active updates for Vegas Pro users.
Red Giant 2025.4: DaVinci Resolve support extended, but Vegas Pro support ended
Red Giant 2025.4 adds support for DaVinci Resolve, Blackmagic Design’s compositing, editing and effects software, to two more of its key plugins.
Real Lens Flares and Optical Glow now support Resolve, alongside Magic Bullet Looks, Cosmo, Mojo, Film, and Renoiser.
However, Maxon has ended support for editing app Vegas Pro in the Red Giant tools.
The final feature update was for Vegas Pro users was the previous release, Red Giant 2025.3, which will continue to receive technical support and critical bug fixes until 18 March 2026.
Universe 2025.3: better loading in DaVinci Resolve
Universe 2025.3 features an “improved loading process” in DaVinci Resolve.
In addition, effects in both Red Giant and Universe are now grouped in the menus of their host applications by effect type and purpose, making them easier to navigate.
Price and system requirements
Red Giant is compatible with After Effects 2024+ on Windows 10+ and macOS 12.0+. Some individual tools are compatible with other host applications, including DaVinci Resolve.
Complete Red Giant subscriptions, which include Universe, cost $85/month or $639/year. Individual Universe subscriptions cost $32/month or $214/year.
