Allegorithmic creates $99 Substance Designer licence

Allegorithmic has announced a new $99 edition of Substance Designer 3 for non-commercial use: almost $500 less than the commercial edition of the games texturing tool.

According to the developer, a cheap non-commercial licence has been a common request from hobbyists and games modders: “We have been pinged by many to do such [a] thing [and] we listened to our community.”

Like the commercial edition – but $99, not $590
There isn’t much else to say about the new edition, since functionally, it’s identical to the commercial one.

For more, check out our stories about the new features in Substance Designer 3, which include batch editing and bitmap painting; and in version 3.1, which added a tiling mode for painting.

The non-commercial edition of Substance Designer 3 is out now for Windows XP+ and Mac OS X 10.6+, price $99. The procedural textures, or ‘substances’, it generates are compatible with 3ds Max, Maya and Unity.

Anyone ordering before 31 December also gets 250 free Substance source files.
