Boris FX releases Mocha Pro 2026.5

Boris FX has released Mocha Pro 2026.5, the latest version of the planar and 3D tracking tool.

The update introduces Point Track ML, a new AI-based point tracking system that generates more accurate results with surfaces occluded by other objects or obscured by shadows.

The existing AI matte toolset has been updated to improve the accuracy of the mattes generated, and users have more options for exporting mattes, including as multi-layer EXRs.

New Point Track ML model generates more accurate tracks on trick shots
The headline change in Mocha Pro 2026.5 is in the integration of Point Track ML, the AI-based point tracking model rolled out last month in Silhouette 2026, Boris FX’s roto and paint software.

Point Track ML is available in Mocha Pro’s PowerMesh, used for tracking deforming surfaces like cloth and skin, making it possible to track formerly impossible shots where the surface being tracked turns away from then back towards the camera.

According to Boris FX, the AI track is less affected by tracked surfaces being occluded by other objects or going out of shot, and to variations in lighting.

Point Track ML is also available in the AdjustTrack module, Mocha Pro’s final-step tool for correcting problem tracks, where it automatically detects and fixes drifting points.

Existing AI tools now generate more accurate edges to mattes
There are also updates to the AI-powered matte generation tools introduced in Mocha Pro 2025 and Mocha Pro 2026.

You can see the updates to the Object Brush, Matte Assist ML and Matte Refine ML in the video above: they all essentially result in more accurate edges to the AI-generated mattes.

Workflow and performance improvements
Workflow improvements include the option to render layer mattes as multi-layer EXR files, and to render mattes as RGBA data along with the source clip, rather than as a separate file.

The Curve Editor now lets users view and modify PowerMesh keyframes per vertex.

Mocha Pro also becomes the latest application to natively support Windows on ARM, at least in the standalone application and Adobe plugin, improving performance on new Copilot+ PCs.

Price and system requirements
Mocha Pro 2026.5 is available as a standalone application, and as Adobe, Avid and OFX plugins. The standalone is compatible with Windows 10+, RHEL/Rocky Linux 8-9 and macOS 12.7.6+.

The plugins are compatible with After Effects and Premiere Pro CC 2023+, Media Composer 2022+, Nuke 13+, Flame 2023+, DaVinci Resolve and Fusion Studio 18+, and Vegas Pro 21+.

Perpetual licenses cost $765 for the Adobe, Avid or OFX plugins, $1,095 for all the plugins, or $1,645 for the standalone edition plus all of the plugins.

Monthly subscriptions cost $48/month for the individual plugins, $64/month for all the plugins, or $96/month for the standalone edition plus the plugins.

Annual subscriptions cost $325/year for the individual plugins, $435/year for all the plugins, or $655/year for the standalone edition plus the plugins.
