Chaos releases V-Ray 7.2 for Blender
Chaos has released V-Ray 7.2 for Blender, Update 2 (V-Ray 7 for Blender Update 2), the latest update to the new version of its ray tracing renderer for Blender.
The release makes the software available on macOS as well as Windows, adds support for V-Ray’s new distributed rendering system and V-Ray Fur, and provides access to three experimental new AI tools.
A new edition of V-Ray integrated directly inside Blender
Released earlier this year, V-Ray 7 for Blender makes it possible for Blender users to render with V-Ray from the current version of the open-source 3D software.
Unlike the legacy plugin, which exported scenes to V-Ray Standalone, it integrates V-Ray directly inside Blender, with V-Ray available for interactive rendering in the 3D viewport.
It supports Blender’s hair system, and has “initial support” for rendering materials and nodes from Cycles, Blender’s principal built-in production renderer.
Users can also create, edit and manage V-Ray materials, textures and geometries inside Blender via the V-Ray Node Editor, using a workflow similar to Blender’s native node editors.

V-Ray 7.2 for Blender: available on macOS as well as Windows
V-Ray 7.2 for Blender makes the previously Windows-only Blender edition available on macOS. Linux support is also planned, although Chaos hasn’t given an exact release date.
The update also adds support for Blender’s material override system, and for V-Ray Fur, V-Ray’s own hair and fur procedural.

Support for V-Ray’s new distributed rendering system and AI tools
Blender users also get several of the new features rolled out recently in other versions of V-Ray, including distributed rendering system DR2, which improves performance scaling across multiple machines.
Available via the Chaos Cosmos asset library, the AI Material Generator generates PBR materials from photographic source images.
The AI Enhancer, available in Chaos Cloud Collaboration, adds AI-generated details to renders.
The AI Upscaler, also available via Chaos Cloud Collaboration, makes it possible to upres renders to a maximum resolution of 16K.

Price, system requirements and release dates
V-Ray 7.2 for Blender is compatible with Blender 4.2+ on Windows 10+ or macOS 110+. It supports GPU rendering with NVIDIA or Apple Silicon GPUs. The software is available rental-only.
V-Ray for Blender subscriptions include a named-user license of V-Ray for Blender, the Chaos Cosmos asset library and Chaos Cloud rendering, and cost $33/month or $199/year.
V-Ray for Blender is also available through standard V-Ray subscriptions, which provide access to all of the other current V-Ray integrations, plus a range of other tools and services.
