Master Character Animation Fundamentals for Games
The Gnomon Workshop has released Character Animation Fundamentals for Games, a detailed introduction to animation in Maya recorded by games animator Juan Cervilla.
The workshop provides over four hours of video training on creating animation cycles for games and creating high-quality renders of them suitable for use in a portfolio.
Master the fundamentals of games animation in Maya
In the workshop, Cervilla sets out his complete workflow for animating walk cycles, run cycles and attack animations, from gathering references to publishing the final animation.
He also reveals expert tips and techniques for animating believable game characters, with a section at the end of the workshop covering how to add secondary motion for extra flair.
The workshop uses Kiel Figgins’ popular 3D character rigs.
About the artist
Juan Cervilla is an animator with 10 years of experience working on film, TV, cinematics and games projects.
He was recently Senior Gameplay Animator at PlayStation London Studio, and has worked on AAA games including the Total War: Warhammer Series, Total War: Three Kingdoms, and Mafia.
