Polygoniq ships botaniq Maya
Architectural visualization firm and tools developer polygoniq has released botaniq Maya, a new Maya edition of its previously Blender-only library of 3D trees.
The Maya edition provides 3D artists and architectural visualization professionals with 130 individual tree assets, with customisable colours and seasonal states.
Based on a popular library of 3D trees for Blender
First released in 2019 for Blender, botaniq is a library of optimised 3D plants.
The Blender edition has grown from a 1.0 release of 63 trees to hundreds of deciduous, coniferous and tropical trees, plus other types of plants, including shrubs, cacti, herbaceous plants and grasses.
The most recent 6.x releases have also added photoscanned rocks and stones, and helper tools for scattering assets and for drawing vines across the surface of a model.
130 unique 3D trees for Maya, adjustable with simple slider controls
In its initial release, the Maya edition features 130 unique 3D trees, with a total of 274 variants.
The assets are intended to be ready-to-use, so they aren’t fully parametric, but insted come with simple slider-based controls for adjusting leaf and bark colours, and seasonal state.
Polgyoniq says that new plant types will be added to the library in future, with the choice of plants added prioritised according to user demand, and that all future updates will be free for existing users.
