Side Effects Software has released its 2016 customer reel, showcasing the best recent movie, broadcast, commercials and game cinematics work created using Houdini.
(Actually, it came out last week, at Siggraph 2016, but we’re only just catching up on releases from the show.)
As you’d expect, there is a good selection of visual effects work from major movies – Method Studios‘ work on Ant-Man and San Andreas is a highlight – but also feature animation, in the shape of Zootopia and Finding Dory.
Of the commercials and game cinematics, Axis Animation comes out particularly strongly, thanks to its work on Dawn of War III and League of Legends, alongside the likes of Framestore and The Mill.
And it’s nice to see both smaller European studios – in particular the amazing fluid sims of Oslo’s Gimpville – and Japanese firms getting a look in, the latter in the form of the excellent Polygon Pictures and Omnibus.
