Boris FX releases Continuum 2026.5

Boris FX has released Continuum 2026.5, the latest version of its set of effects plugins for compositing and editing software.

The update adds a new AI-powered video deinterlacing system, and updates to the FX Editor, Warp effects, Wipe transitions, and the built-in Particle Illusion particle system.

New AI-powered BCC Deinterlace ML effect
As with most of Boris FX’s recent product updates, Continuum 2026.5 adds new AI tools to the software.

The main one is BCC+ Deinterlace ML, which converts interlaced video like analogue TV footage or VHS recordings into progressive-scan frames.

There are also updates to existing AI models, with BCC+ Face ML – introduced in Continuum 2026.0 for generating mattes for facial features – getting new nose and neck segmentation.

New features in the FX Editor
Continuum’s FX Editor, for browsing and creating effects presets, gets a new Color Management Panel, for color correction, and an Info Panel, to display real-time RGBA and pixel position data.

Pixel Chooser, the matte generator available in most Continuum effects, is also now integrated into the FX Editor.

Updates to Warp effects and Wipe transitions
In addition, several of Continuum’s Warp effects, including BCC+ Ripple, BCC+ Displacement Map, BCC+ Polar Displacement and BCC+ Vector Displacement – get a built-in glitch effect, and an integrated Beat Reactor to sync animations automatically to music.

Three of Continuum’s Wipe transitions – BCC+ Smoke Wipe, BCC+ Texture Wipe, and BCC+ Depth Wipe — get a new gradient control, for guiding the direction, focus and motion of a wipe.

Workflow improvements to Particle Illusion
Particle effects toolset Particle Illusion gets several new features, including Parameter Linking, making it possible to update parameters simultaneously across multiple linked nodes.

There are also new gradient mapping nodes for color mapping. You can find a complete list of changes via the links at the foot of this story.

Pricing and system requirements
Continuum 2026.0 is compatible with a range of compositing and editing software, including After Effects, DaVinci Resolve and Nuke, on Windows 10+ or macOS 12.0+.

It is priced according to host application, with new perpetual licences costing from $365 to $2,195. Subscriptions cost from $32/month to $112/month, or $215/year to $765/year.
