KeyShot releases KeyShot Studio 2025.3
KeyShot has released KeyShot Studio 2025.3, the latest version of the renderer.
The update adds support for Cryptomatte and OpenPBR, streamlines workflow in the material graph, and improves performance by “up to 50%” when rendering on AMD GPUs.
An intuitive ray tracing renderer for visualization and portfolio work
KeyShot Studio is a standalone CPU and GPU-based ray tracing renderer with integration plugins for a range of popular DCC and CAD applications.
It is intended to enable non-specialist artists to create photorealistic renders of imported 3D models, and also includes simple technical animation capabilities.
Although it is used by entertainment artists to create portfolio renders, having previously been the de facto third-party renderer for ZBrush, its key market is product visualization.
Formerly known simply as KeyShot, the renderer is now officially branded KeyShot Studio, and forms part of a suite of ‘product design-to-market’ tools that also include digital asset management system KeyShot Dock.
KeyShot Studio 2025.3: Cryptomatte and OpenPBR support
KeyShot Studio 2025.3 adds support for two important technologies for entertainment and visualization work: Cryptomatte and OpenPBR.
Open-source ID matte generation tech Cryptomatte makes it simple to select individual elements within renders in post-production tools that support it.
New open material standard OpenPBR is intended to make materials display consistently in applications that support it.
Workflow and performance improvements
Other changes include a new option in the Move tool to set the pivot points for parts of a model, and an option to lock the focal point for depth of field when moving a camera.
KeyShot can also now import and display metadata from a range of CAD applications, including PTC Creo, Solidworks, Solid Edge, Catia and Siemens NX.
There are workflow improvements to the material graph, and to AI Shots, the new generative AI toolset introduced in KeyShot 2025.2.
KeyShot 2025.2 also introduced experimental support for rendering on AMD as well as NVIDIA GPUs, and in KeyShot 2025.3, performance on AMD hardware is “up to 50% faster”.
Price and system requirements
KeyShot 2025.3 is available for Windows 10+, Windows Server 2019+ and macOS 11.7+.
Integration plugins are available for a range of DCC and CAD tools, including 3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya and SketchUp.
The software is available rental-only. Subscriptions cost $1,299/year, up $111/year since the previous release.
