Nevercenter releases Silo 2026.0 with the Silo Blender Bridge

Nevercenter has begun its 2026 releases of Silo, its lightweight 3D modelling software.

Silo 2026.0 adds the Silo Blender Bridge, a new plugin linking Silo to Blender, making it possible to “use all of Silo’s modeling capabilities” within the open-source 3D software.

At the time of writing, Milo, the accompanying Unreal Engine-based real-time renderer, has not been updated past version 2025.0.

A lightweight sub-D modeller and accompanying real-time renderer
First released in 2003, Silo built up a reputation as an efficient, focused modelling package.

It has a streamlined set of polygonal and subdivision surface modelling tools, a topology brush for drawing new topology over a reference object, and interactive real-time UV unwrapping.

As well as creating low-poly assets for games or real-time applications, it can be used to rough out base models for sculpting in ZBrush, and supports its GoZ bridge system.

Although development stalled during the 2010s, the pace picked up again with the release of Silo 2021, with Nevercenter also launching Milo, a new standalone Unreal-Engine-based real-time renderer and VR viewer.

Silo 2026.0: new bridge plugin linking Silo and Blender
Silo 2026.0 comes with the Silo Blender Bridge, a new plugin linking the two applications.

It makes it possible to edit the object selected inside a Blender scene inside Silo, with any changes automatically transferred back to Blender whenever you hit Save.

To transfer edits, both applications simply write to an intermediate FBX file, so the plugin is essentially just streamlining the process of exporting and importing FBX files manually.

Nevercenter says that while this works for simple cases, there may be “some issues” – for example, Blender modifiers “will likely stop working after import”.

The firm says that it may implement a direct connection between the two applications in future releases, depending on user feedback on the initial version.

Pricing and availability
Silo 2026.0 and Milo 2025.0 are available for Windows 10 and macOS 12.0+.

Perpetual licences of Silo have an MSRP of $159, which includes Milo. The updates are free to anyone who has bought the software in the past year.
