Nevercenter releases Milo 2026.0

Nevercenter released Milo 2026.0, the latest version of its Unreal Engine-based real-time renderer, available to anyone buying Silo, its lightweight 3D modeling software.

It’s a sizeable update, making the software “orders of magnitude faster”, and supporting real-time ray tracing on macOS and path tracing on Windows, but VR support has been removed.

A lightweight sub-D modeller and accompanying real-time renderer
Developed with the help of an Epic Games MegaGrant and first released in 2021, Milo is a real-time renderer based on Unreal Engine.

It is sold as a product bundle with Silo, Nevercenter’s lightweight 3D modeling software, providing a more streamlined alternative to rendering in Unreal Engine itself.

When running both apps, changes made to a model in Silo automatically trigger an update in Milo. The software can also import 3D models from other software in FBX format.

Milo 2026.0: faster, higher-quality rendering
Milo 2026.0 is the most significant update to the software for several years.

The engine has been updated to Unreal Engine 5.7, the latest version of Unreal, and has been optimized, making it “orders of magnitude faster”.

As well as speeding up rendering, the update improves visual quality, with Raster mode now supporting soft shadows.

Mac users get access to the real-time Raytracing mode, previously only available on Windows, while Windows users get a new, non-real-time Pathtracing mode for highest-quality output.

Workflow improvements include the option to drag and drop models directly into Milo, and to have separate quality settings for viewport navigation and rendering.

However, Milo’s VR capabilities have been removed: Nevercenter says that the functionality was “not really used very much” and that it was hard to keep parity with non-VR rendering.

Pricing and availability
Silo 2026.0 and Milo 2026.0 are available for Windows 10+ and macOS 12.0+.

Perpetual licences of Silo have an MSRP of $159, which includes Milo. The updates are free to anyone who has bought the software in the past year.
