Marmoset has released Toolbag 2.06, the latest update to its real-time material viewer and rendering toolkit for games artists, adding support for area lights, curves for colour grading, and a set of new post effects.
New lighting, grading and post effects options
As well as offering fine control over soft shadows, the new area lights are renderable – useful for creating fluorescent tubes, for example – and the GUI has been refined to reduce on-screen clutter.
Another welcome addition is the option to colour grade output through a standard Curves system. There are presets for common effects such as bleaching or cross-processing, and you can save your own looks.
Marmoset has also added a set of common post effects, including lens flares, barrel and pincushion distortion, and chromatic aberration.
Outside of the rendering options, there is also a new Scale Mode for scaling objects or object groups.
Pricing and availability
Marmoset Toolbag 2.06 is available now for Windows Vista or Mac OS X 10.9 and above. A new licence of the software costs $129.
