Prêt-à-3D – aka developer Paolo Ciccone – has released an update to Reality, its plugin for using the physically based LuxRender render engine natively within Poser.

We don’t cover many Poser tools, so we were slow on the uptake when Reality 3 came out earlier this month.

However, we’ve since heard good things about the plugin, which optimises Poser scenes for LuxRender. Reality 3 supports all of Poser’s lights and materials, including procedurals, and includes its own skin material with support for subsurface scattering.

The result is a substantial increase in the realism of Poser renders, with minimal tweaking required.

Price and system requirements
Reality 3 is available now for Windows and Mac OS X. You will need Poser 9 or Poser Pro 2012 with Service Release 3 installed to run it. The plugin has an SRP of $59.95, but is currently available at a launch discount.

The DAZ Studio version is currently in development, but users can currently crossgrade from previous versions of Reality, which also supported DAZ Studio.
