I think the speed controls could use some more work, dude: Cenk Cevdet Kilar and Stefano Farci’s Gnomon School of Visual Effects Summer 2012 Best of Term-winning project, complete with shot breakdowns.

The Gnomon School of Visual Effects has announced its Best of Term award-winners for Summer 2012, showcasing the best work done by students at the school.

All of the category winners – which range from character design through modelling, animation, compositing and visual effects – are worth checking out.

A bad day for Iron Man
But the highlight is undoubtedly the Grand Prize winner, which combines all five.

Cenk Cevdet Kilar and Stefano Farci’s two-minute mockumentary (above) shows someone testing their new Iron Man suit in Gnomon’s backlot – with unfortunate consequences for the surrounding buildings.

The video above shows the results up until the emergency services arrive, along with a breakdown of the effects, which were created in Maya, Houdini, Nuke and After Effects.
