Tutorial: Creating a Sci-Fi Hallway in Unreal Engine 5

The Gnomon Workshop has released Creating a Sci-Fi Hallway in Unreal Engine 5, a detailed guide to modern games texturing techniques, recorded by principal environment artist Dominique Buttiens.

The workshop provides over three hours of video training covering Blender, Substance 3D Painter and Photoshop as well as the Unreal Engine 5 game engine itself.

Master best-practice texturing and shading techniques for games projects of any size
In the workshop, Buttiens demonstrates how to create a sci-fi hallway for use in UE5, from initial concepting to final visual development, focusing on how to create high-quality shaders quickly and efficiently.

Topics covered include concept modelling in Blender and Unreal Engine, generating texture maps in Substance 3D Painter, and shading, lighting, look development and rendering in Unreal Engine.

The tutorial is aimed at artists with a basic understanding of 3D modelling, texturing and Unreal Engine, and sets out industry best practices based on Buttiens’ experience working on AAA projects.

However, the techniques covered can be adapted to projects of any size, including solo projects, and to other software applications and game engines.
