Tutorial: Real-Time VFX Fundamentals for Unreal Engine 5
The Gnomon Workshop has released Real-Time VFX Fundamentals for Unreal Engine 5, a beginner-friendly guide to creating effects for games.
The tutorial, recorded by Remedy Entertainment’s Tobias Ahlgren Cederlöf, provides over four hours of video training in Maya and Photoshop as well as Unreal Engine itself.
Create a multi-stage anime-style explosion effect in Unreal Engine 5
In the workshop, Cederlöf sets out the foundation for great effects for videogames – and for comparison, what makes for not-so-great effects.
Using nothing but basic elements like sprites, meshes and animated materials, he creates a multi-stage anime-inspired effect, using Unreal Engine’s particle tools.
As well as the training videos, viewers of the workshop can download the source textures and FBX meshes used in the tutorial.
