Tutorial: The Art of Visual Storytelling
The Gnomon Workshop has released The Art of Visual Storytelling, a guide to professional concept art techniques, recorded by Ronan Le Fur, aka Dofresh.
The workshop provides over three hours of video training in 3ds Max, After Effects and Photoshop, although the techniques covered can be transferred to other software.
The training is aimed at intermediate-level artists with some experience of 2D and 3D workflows.
A masterclass in professional 2D and 3D techniques for creating concept images
In the workshop, Le Fur reveals the workflow he uses to create digital images, focusing on visuals suitable for the pre-production of a film or videogame project.
Techniques covered include sketching, kitbashing, compositing and digital painting, as Le Fur deconstructs the DNA of a successful concept image.
