Greyscalegorilla now available for ‘all major 3D software’

Greyscalegorilla has made Greyscalegorilla Plus, its previously Cinema 4D-only online library of photorealistic 3D assets, available for other 3D applications.

The change makes over 4,000 textures, materials, models and HDRIs available for new applications, including Blender, Houdini and Unreal Engine, on a subscription-only basis.

An industry-standard online library of textures, materials, models and HDRIs
A staple of the Cinema 4D and motion graphics communities, Greyscalegorilla provides an online library of over 4,000 high-quality materials, textures, HDRIs, 3D models and plugins.

Since 2021, the only way to access those assets has been through the site’s Greyscalegorilla Plus subscriptions.

Initially only available for Cinema 4D, the subscriptions have now been extended to “all major 3D software”, with users of Blender, Houdini and Unreal Engine now able to download plugins to streamline the process of importing materials into the host software.

For Houdini users, SideFX has posted instructions on using the Houdini plugin on its website.

Users of other applications can download files individually in FBX or EXR format.

Greyscalegorilla plugins remain Cinema 4D-only for now
Greyscalegorilla also develops Cinema 4D plugins. They’re still listed on the website as being available through Greyscalegorilla Plus, but don’t appear to have been ported to other software.

Updated 19 November 2023: Greyscalegorilla tells us that the plugins are still being developed for Cinema 4D, but that it currently has no plans to bring them to other DCC applications.

Pricing and system requirements
Greyscalegorilla Plus subscriptions cost $66/month, up $17/month, or $468/year, up $69/year.

You can find system requirements for Greyscalegorilla’s Cinema 4D plugins and resource collections in its online documentation.
