Boris FX has released Mocha Pro 2019, the next version of its planar tracking software, overhauling the user interface, GPU-accelerating object removal, and adding new roto spline tools.
Sister app Mocha VR, designed for tracking 360-degree video, is also now integrated with the software.
The release was originally announced at IBC 2018, alongside the upcoming versions of BorisFX’s effects plugin collections Continuum 2019 and Sapphire 2019.
New 360-degree tracking features, spline tools and GPU-accelerated object removal
The biggest change in Mocha Pro 2019 is that it now includes the features of Mocha VR, its sister product for tracking and fixing 360-degree VR footage.
The update also adds four new spline tools for creating roto shapes: simple Ellipse and Rectangle shapes, a Freehand Spline, and a Magnetic Spline Tool with edge snapping.
The existing Remove module, designed for removing rigs and tracking markers, has been rewritten, and is now GPU-accelerated, with Boris FX claiming a speed boost of “4-5x” over the CPU alone.
The update also introduces an optional simplifed Mocha Essentials UI layout, aimed at “traditional video editors and newer Mocha users with little visual effects experience”.
In addition, all interface layouts have been updated to support Hi-DPI displays.
Pricing and availability
Mocha Pro 2019 is available as a standalone tool for Windows XP+, RHEL/CentOS 5+ Linux and OS X 10.7+.
Integration plugins are available for After Effects and Premiere Pro CC 2014+, Media Composer 8+, Nuke, Fusion, Vegas Pro and HitFilm Pro, with the software priced according to host platform.
A new licence costs $695 for the Adobe, Avid or OFX plugins, $995 for all the plugins, or $1,495 for the standalone edition plus all of the plugins.
