Pixologic announces free ‘ZBrush 4R2b’ update

Pixologic has announced it will release ZBrush 4R2b, a free update to “polish the rough corners” of ZBrush 4R2, in late December.

ZBrush 4R2, which shipped in September, added a range of new features to the industry-standard sculpting tool, including the new LightCap material and the DynaMesh mesh-generation system (think true digital clay).

Beyond the fact that it will address bugs and glitches with the new tools thrown up by real users’ experiences using them, the exact content of the new release has not been announced.

However, as one CGSociety forum user pointed out, Pixologic’s product numbering is getting increasingly droid-like. The company would only have to release two more updates, then a patch, and we’d have ZBrush 4 R2D2.

Thank you. I’m here all night.
