Atangeo has released a beta version of its Balancer mesh optimisation tool for Mac users.
Already available for Windows, the software provides fine control over polygon-decimation for heavy meshes, converting digital sculpts into less processor-intensive forms. A range of options for handling texture coordinates, normals and mesh discontinuities are provided.
As with specialist UV unwrapping tools like headus’ UVLayout, Balancer won’t be for everybody: but if you do this kind of work routinely, it could save you a lot of time and headaches. At just $52, it’s worth checking out.
