The Gnomon Workshop has released 2D & 3D Character Design in Photoshop & Blender, an introduction to character design principles, recorded by Art Director Francesco Guarini.
The workshop, which is aimed at beginners and intermediate-level artists, provides over three hours of video training in Photoshop and Blender.
Master the fundamentals of character design for animation projects
In the workshop, Guarini sets out the basic principles of character design for animation.
He reveals how to develop a character concept from a rough sketch to a final render, using Blender for 3D modeling and rendering and Photoshop for final post-production, although the techniques used can be translated to other software.
As well as the tutorial videos, viewers of the workshop can download project files including Guarini’s design, 3D model and render set-up.
About the artist
Francesco Guarini is an Art Director and Visual Development Artist who has been working in the animation industry since 2015, on 2D and 3D TV productions and feature films.
He has worked for animation studios including Blue Zoo Animation, Able & Baker, Red Star 3D and Method n Madness.
