Sneak peek: dynamic wrinkles in Character Creator 4.2

Reallusion has posted a sneak peek at the long-awaited dynamic wrinkle system due in Character Creator 4.2, the next update to its 3D character creation tool.

The functionality, which automatically forms wrinkles on a character’s face in response to changes in expression, will also be supported in iClone 8.2, the next update to Reallusion’s animation software.

Add wrinkles automatically to existing facial animatioin to increase its realism
The dynamic wrinkles system is one of the longest-awaited features in Character Creator, having been originally scheduled for Character Creator 3.3 in 2020.

The wrinkles can be triggered in real time by facial morphs or keyframe animation, including motion-capture data, lipsync animation and Face Puppet, iClone’s facial puppeteering system.

Users can fine tune the results by adjusting the intensity of the wrinkles on different regions of the face.

Pricing and availability
Reallusion hasn’t announced a release date for Character Creator 4.2 yet. The current stable release, Character Creator 4.1, is available for Windows 7+. New licences have a MSRP of $299.
