See how Storm Studios created its VFX for Season 2 of Percy Jackson
Norway’s Storm Studios has shared its VFX breakdown for Season 2 of fantasy adventure series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, spanning 200 shots across seven episodes.
For us, the highlights are the CG augmentation of the prosthetic creature effects, like the Gray Sisters and their single, shared, 3D-animated eye, comped into the live plate.
The studio also added surface details to the rock-like Sirens, with custom solvers, including Houdini Bullet and Vellum solvers, attaching barnacles to their backs and handling intersections.
Other shots included ocean surface simulations, and interactions between characters and animated vines, with the vines deforming the clothing as they wrapped around the characters
