CLO Virtual Fashion has released Marvelous Designer 7.5, the latest update to the 3D clothing design tool, adding a UV editor, 3D transform controls for add-ons like buttons, and smoothing options for 3D avatars.
New tile-based UV editor and 3D transform controls for add-on objects
The major addition this time round is a dedicated UV editor (above) – presumably UDIM-based, since UV islands can be arranged into separate UV tiles.
Other new 3D tools include transform controls for OBJ files used as the ‘trim’ for a scene – for example, props or clothing parts like buttons.
There is also a new option to change the subdivision level of the 3D avatar over which clothing is draped during simulation; and a Slash & Spread tool for splitting and reshaping sections of 2D clothing patterns.
Pricing and availability
Marvelous Designer 7.5 is available for Windows 7+ and OS X 10.8+. A perpetual licence costs $490; rental starts at $50/month. The update is free to current users.
