Next Limit has released its 2017 RealFlow showreel: its annual celebration of the best recent work created using the fluid simulation software.
As you might expect, a lot of the shots are from RealFlow’s bread-and-butter work (or is that milk-and-chocolate work?): small-scale fluid shots created for commercials – and food commercials in particular.
But in amongst the footage of unctuous-looking liquids in slow motion, there are a few real surprises: notably, Burt Kane’s unused VFX test of Brad Pitt getting shot in the head from Burn After Reading.
There is also some nice motion design, particularly Bigstar’s teaser for Season 7 of Game of Thrones; and even some granular sims, at least in test form, courtesy of the new multiphysics solver in RealFlow 2016.
