Today is International Women’s Day – and to mark the occasion, Gnomon is hosting Women in Digital Production: Careers & Industry Insights – a free panel discussion and accompanying livestream.
The three-hour session, organised in collaboration with industry body Women in Animation, will feature careers advice from leading female artists from the worlds of animation, VFX, games, TV, and commercials.
Careers tips from artists at DreamWorks, Disney, The Mill and Naughty Dog
Speakers at the event, hosted by Hollywood Reporter contributing editor Carolyn Giardina, include DreamWorks Animation lead texture artist Lorin Pillai and Krystal Sae Eua, modelling and texture lead at The Mill.
Other panellists include Naughty Dog’s Melissa Altobello, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Diana Zeng, Nickelodeon’s Leticia Kao and Duncan Studio’s Brooke Shay.
In an industry in which women make up only 20% of the creative workforce, the panel will explore what women considering a career in CG can expect, and what the industry can do to address the gender imbalance.
According to Gnomon, the evening’s discussions will “celebrate achievements, foster connections, and support women considering a career in digital production for entertainment”.
Free to attend or view online, but register in advance
Digital Production: Careers & Industry Insights takes place at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects’ Hollywood campus tonight, Tuesday 8 March, from 7-10pm PDT.
