Gnomon alumni at Walt Disney Animation Studios, Blizzard Entertainment, and Pixomondo will share their unique career path stories. Casey McDermott, Senior Animator on Overwatch, Starcraft, and Warcraft, will discuss how he discovered his passion for the industry and will reveal the key to his success in the field so far.
Artists from Blizzard Entertainment, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixomondo will be sharing their career tips at a free panel discussion and Q&A at Gnomon’s Hollywood campus this Saturday, 20 May 2017.
The Career Paths & Industry Advice event will also be broadcast worldwide on Gnomon’s Livestream channel. You can watch along via the embedded player above.
Essential careers advice for games, feature animation and visual effects
Three former Gnomon graduates will be speaking at the event: Walt Disney Animation Studios lighting artist Diana Zeng, Blizzard senior animator Casey McDermott and Pixomondo CG generalist Dan Edery.
Over the course of an hour, they will discuss their respective career paths into the industry, and provide their inside advice for working in the game development, feature animation and visual effects industries.
The session will also touch on key topics such as the relative merits of specialising in a particular job role or developing a generalist skill set, and of working freelance and full-time.
The panel discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A, and a chance to meet the speakers in person.

Career Paths & Industry Advice: Gnomon Alumni Panel takes place at Gnomon’s Hollywood campus from 1.00-2.30pm on Saturday 20 May 2017. It’s free to attend, but you’ll need to register online in advance.
