Gnomon ships Figure Fundamentals Volume 2

The Gnomon Workshop has released Figure Fundamentals Volume 2: Construction for Perspective and Volume, the latest in its series of tutorials on traditional figure drawing recorded by LA-based painter Van Arno.

Volume 1 in the series covered basic concepts, focusing on how to capture the essentials of a pose quickly.

Build up the skills needed to draw accurately from memory
In the new video, which lasts over two and half hours, Van Arno turns his attention to drawing a male model, discussing the anatomical differences between male and female bodies.

Arno also explores how, with longer poses, the model can be drawn with simple volumes and then redrawn from another angle without the model present, also going on to discuss tone and lighting.

The exercises should help artists build up the volumetric vocabulary necessary to draw accurately without live pose reference: an essential skill for production and storyboard work.
