e-on software releases LumenRT 4 Studio

e-on software has shipped LumenRT 4 Studio, a major update to its real-time visualisation tool, adding support for a wider range of CAD packages, new animation and lighting features – and a new name and pricing model.

Not just for SketchUp
Formerly tailored to SketchUp and known as LumenRT Review, the application now works with Autodesk’s Revit, Bentley’s MicroStation and (not listed in the press release, but namechecked in the video) CityEngine.

The software also accepts scenes exported from Vue, or files in 3DS, OBJ, FBX or DAE format.

Animation paths can now be created directly inside LiveCubes, LumenRT’s standalone executables: the demo video above shows both animated characters and vehicles.

Users can also create point lights, spot lights and luminous materials in addition to the sunlight system, with the option to assign IES profiles to any light.

The plant library has been expanded, and there are also new sets of stock vehicles, both static and moving.

Prices up significantly
You pay for the extra power, though: whereas LumenRT 3 Review cost $295 ($395 if you bought the add-on Content Pack at the same time), LumenRT 4 Studio costs $795.

You also pay an additional $995 if you want to publish LiveCubes, which is now handled by a separate app.

LumenRT 4 Studio is available now for Windows XP and above and Mac OS X, and is compatible with SketchUp 7+, Revit 2012+ and MicroStation SS3.
