Check out real-time Blender water simulation add-on Dynamic Flow

Prolific add-on developer Blender Procedural has released Dynamic Flow, a new ‘terrain-aware’ real-time water simulation add-on for Blender.

The $8 Geometry Nodes-based add-on, intended for quickly creating environments like shorelines and river banks, automatically generates water flow around the edges of terrain.

A lightweight real-time tool for creating water flowing around terrain
There are no shortage of fluid simulation add-ons for Blender, some of them created by Blender Procedural itself.

Dynamic Flow’s pitch is for a specific task in environment art: to create water flowing realistically around the edges of terrain, like river banks and shorelines.

Rather than running a full fluid simulation, it uses a grid-based system to create a water surface, automatically generating surface flow and foam where it intersects with surrounding terrain.

The results look pretty good in the teaser video above, in both realistic and stylized environments: the start of the video shows it in use in a Minecraft-style voxel landscape.

Blender Procedural says that the add-on, which is based on Blender’s Geometry Nodes system, is lightweight enough to run in real time, and its output does not require baking or caching.

As well as Cycles, Blender’s production renderer, Dynamic Flow is compatible with Eevee, its real-time render engine.

Price and system requirements
Dynamic Flow is compatible with Blender 5.0+. It costs $8.
