Digital painting tools developer Anastasiy Safari has released MagicSquire 5.0, the latest version of his Photoshop brush organisation plugin.

The update adds new customisable mini control panels to provide quick access to key brush properties, and the option to assign custom tags to multiple brushes at once.

Create custom sub-palettes for your Photoshop brushes, with quick visual previews
First released in 2016, MagicSquire enables concept designers, illustrators and anyone else working with large numbers of custom Photoshop brushes to organise them in colour-coded sub-palettes.

The plugin automatically generates thumbnail images for each brush, with a wider choice of stroke types than Photoshop itself, helping to differentiate them visually.

It also works with custom shapes and tool presets, and includes a ‘Magic Eraser’ feature to turn any tool preset into a custom eraser brush.

Its users include some well-known concept artists, like Marc Simonetti and Craig Shoji.

New in MagicSquire 5.0: new mini brush control panels and mass tagging
Changes in MagicSquire 5.0 include a user-customisable new HUD panel providing quick access to key brush properties, like Size, Flow, Opacity, Hardness and jitter settings.

Users can select which properties to display, assign them visual controls including sliders and control wheels, and assign custom accent colours to the controls.

Other changes include support for mass tagging of brushes and tools, the option to change stroke properties on multiple brush presets, and automatic scrolling of the UI when dragging and dropping brushes.

Updated 29 March 2022: Anastasiy Safari has released MagicSquire 5.4.

The update adds new colour jitter options for introducing random variation in hue, saturation and brightness to brushes, with option to set colour jitter on a per-tip basis.

Pricing and availability
MagicSquire 5.4 is available for Photoshop CS5 and above on Windows and Mac OS X. It costs $19.
