Download ActionVFX’s free stock effects clips and textures

Stock practical effects site ActionVFX has released three new sets of free assets: six emergency flares, 19 cartoon fire and smoke elements, and 50 surface imperfection textures, like fingerprints and scratches.

All of the assets are licenced for use in commercial projects.

The emergency flares collection comprises six clips of real-world flares of various brightness levels, set off both horizontally and vertically, some with smoke and some without.

Each FX clip is provided in ProRes 422 format at 2K resolution.

The cartoon fire and smoke collection comprises 19 hand-drawn 2D animations of fire and smoke. All of the files are pre-keyed, and provided in 12-bit ProRes 4444 format at 23.98fps, at both HD and 4K resolution.

The surface imperfections collection comprises 50 photographic textures, including fingerprints, scratches, smudges and dust. The files are provided as 16-bit PNG images at 2K or 5K resolution.

Commercial collections cover all common types of stock effects
ActionVFX also has a range of commercial effects clips available to buy for visual effects work, including fire, explosions, dust, smoke, water, gunshots and blood splatters.

The firm also recently partnered with Undertone FX to convert its effects into a format suitable for use in games, with the first collection of real-time fire FX assets available via the Unreal Engine Marketplace.
